Barker-Vormawor's Lawyer says bribery allegation 'is a statement from a whistleblower'
The Counsel for Oliver Barker-Vormawor, Nana Ato Dadzie has clarified that the bribery allegations made by his client on social media were not directed at the Parliamentary Appointments Committee.
He stressed that Mr Barker-Vormawor never intended to make statements that would disparage the Appointments Committee.
He noted that the remarks could be interpreted in different ways depending on the reader but were certainly not meant as an attack on the committee.
"Indeed if it is anything at all to go by, it is a statement of a whistleblower saying that somethings are happening", Mr Dadzie added.
Mr Dadzie further explained that a second social media post, which suggested that members of the Appointments Committee were receiving money from the President’s appointees, was fabricated.
The post in question read, "It is not directed at the Appointment Committee an any way. It was completely not directed at the Appointment Committee. It is only intended to expose certain matters", he stated.
Mr Dadzie further explained that a second social media post, which suggested that members of the Appointments Committee were receiving money from the President’s appointees, was fabricated.
"NDC members on the vetting committee take money for Mahama's ministerial nomiees before approving them. The Deputy Speaker must submit himself to ORAL", the post said.
