Losing NDC aspirants have roles to play — Tandoh

The newly elected Ashanti Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Raymond Tandoh, has assured all those who lost  in the just-ended regional elections that they still have crucial roles to play to ensure that the party secured the one million targeted votes from the region in 2016.

He said as part of the unity policy and new direction for the newly elected executive,  most of those who lost their positions would be considered for the appointment positions that must be filled by members of the party in the region.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in Kumasi, Mr Tandoh, who until his election was the acting Regional Secretary, noted that there were more than five committees, with each having an average of 11 members, to be constituted.

According to him, losing internal elections should not mark the end of one’s active participation in helping the NDC retain power, adding, “only a handful of us were elected to steer the affairs of the party in the region, but the success would be achieved only if we all put our shoulders to the wheel”.

Mr Tandoh mentioned the available positions to be filled as those on Finance, Disciplinary, Organisation, Policy Direction, Constitutional, and Youth and Women’s Wing Working committees.

He, therefore, urged all those who contested various positions and lost ,as well as their supporters, to remain calm, because they had a crucial and prominent role to play to ensure that the party secured one million votes in 2016 in the region

Mr Tandoh said irrespective of their position in a political party, they could contribute their quota in diverse ways to ensure that the party secured the one million votes during the 2016 general election.

Conflict Resolution

He explained that the new executive would concentrate on unity and the use of internal mechanisms to resolve all grievances amicably.

He said the party had decided to strengthen its internal conflict resolution mechanism to afford the members the opportunity to readily and speedily deal with concerns of members.

He expressed the opinion that with such mechanisms strengthened, aggrieved members would not resort to processes outside the party such as law courts in seeking redress to their concerns. He, however, appealed to members to always exhaust the internal conflict resolution mechanism.
