Nana Yaa Jantuah: Former CPP General Secretary appointed Presidential Staffer

Nana Yaa Jantuah, a former Director of Public Relations and External Affairs at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) and General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has been appointed as a Presidential Staffer by President John Dramani Mahama.

This was announced as part of a series of key appointments to the Office of the President made today January 21, 2025.

Her tenure with the CPP, which began in August 2020, concluded in December 2023 following internal party challenges that led to her resignation. “I am gone. I think I’ve done what I have to do. I’m no longer the General Secretary of the CPP. In due course, I will let everybody know where my political allegiance will be,” she stated at the time

In addition to her political career, Jantuah has endured personal trials, including a high-profile investigation during her time at the PURC.

Summoned by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in 2017 over allegations of financial malfeasance, she has since recounted the traumatic experiences of her detention. Despite these challenges, she has emerged resilient, attributing her survival to divine strength and forgiveness.

Nana Yaa Jantuah’s extensive experience in public relations, her leadership in the energy and political sectors, and her commitment to service make her a valuable addition to the Presidency.

Over the past year, she made regular appearances on radio and television shows where she was a vocal critic of the President Akufo-Addo administration.

Endorsement

In the lead-up to the 2024 Presidential Election she endorsed John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at the NDC's final campaign rally at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra, she passionately declared her support for Mahama, citing his proven leadership and the urgent need for a change in governance.

“I am here because of John Mahama. I am here because I believe Ghana has to be liberated. Ghana has to be free from what is going on, and the only political party at this moment to help us out of this situation is the NDC,” she stated.

The former CPP General Secretary and former emphasized Mahama's track record as president, highlighting his achievements and leadership capabilities. “I am officially endorsing John Mahama to be the next president of Ghana. He has done it before; he has ruled this country before, and he did it perfectly well. I think it is time for us to give him a second chance to finish the good work that he started,” she added.
