New Juaben South NPP primary: Okyere Baafi 'kicks out' Assibey Yeboah
Mr Michael Okyere Baafi has been elected as the new Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the New Patriotic Party in the New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region going into the December 2020 election.
Mr Baafi defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Mark Assibey Yeboah in the primary that saw massive voter turnout with 572 delegates out of the total 586.

Declaring the results, the Electoral Officer of the Electoral Commission, Mr Kofi Asante Owusu announced the current Director of Free Zones Ghana, as the winner with 372 votes representing 64.70 percent.

The incumbent who doubled as chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament got 200 votes representing 34.78 percent. There were no rejected ballots.
Mr Baafi would represent the constituency for the first time on the ticket of the NPP, having previously lost to the incumbent. The camp of Okyere Baafi have since the declaration taken to the street in massive jubilation throughout the Koforidua township.
