NPP clears five aspirants to contest election
The five national executive aspirants of the New Patriotic Party whose vetting was put on hold were cleared yesterday by the National Vetting Committee.
According to the acting Communication Director of the party, Mr Perry Okudzeto, a review committee which looked into their appeal submitted its report to the vetting committee for a final decision.
The Five persons - Fred Kwaku Amankwa Sarfo (Vice Chairman), Philomena Serwaa Akoto Sam (Vice Chairperson), Hajia Fati Amadu (Vice Chairperson), Kamal – deen Abdullai (National Nasara Coordinator) and Charles Adu Gyamfi (National Youth Organiser) - were last week Thursday declared unqualified to contest their respective national positions in the party.
The five subsequently appealed against the decision.
The vetting committee had stated that the disqualified aspirants had scanty knowledge about the party.
The vetting of Mr Paul Afoko, who is contesting the national chairman position, is still on hold pending the outcome of a petition filed against him. Meanwhile, ballotiing for positions by all aspirants except for that of the chairmanship would take place on Monday.
