Speaking during Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s visit to the constituency on Sunday, Nana Sekyemme highlighted how the NPP governments of President John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo have spearheaded major projects in the area.

Reflecting on the longstanding request for the realisation of the Bui Power Project, which had been initially planned by Kwame Nkrumah but stalled after his overthrow, the Omanhene praised President Kufuor for making the dream a reality.

"President Kufuor came, and we told him about the Bui Dam project, and it materialised. So we had the Bui Dam project right here by the NPP, under Kufuor’s government, which opened up this place," the Omanhene said.

He further acknowledged that the NPP administration under Kufuor was responsible for improvements to Banda's infrastructure, including the first tarred road and a significant extension of electricity.

Nana Sekyemme also commended President Akufo-Addo’s government for continuing the trend of development in Banda, mentioning the extension of the Bui Dam with solar power and the completion of more roads.

"The two tarred roads we have here were all done by the NPP," he noted, adding that the Akufo-Addo government has also provided a cashew processing factory and a sugar cane factory to boost local agriculture.

The Omanhene pointed to additional projects under the Middle Belt Development Authority, including 8 durbar grounds and an astro turf. He also appealed to Dr. Bawumia for the completion of ongoing projects and the consideration of Banda for one of the Agenda 111 hospital projects due to the difficulty of travelling to Nsokwa for healthcare.

"If we are here today, we are here wholeheartedly to support you so that our community will see more development," the Omanhene assured.

In response, Dr. Bawumia expressed his gratitude to the Banda Traditional Council for their support, pledging to address the concerns raised and continue the NPP's tradition of delivering development for all Ghanaians.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to being accountable to the people as he seeks their mandate for the presidency.
