They are Samia Yaba Nkrumah, Joseph Agyapong, Bright Oblitei Akwetey and Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.

The CPP opened nominations a fortnight ago and it was closed by its chairman, Prof. Edmund Delle, on Monday at 5 p.m.

The party, however, rejected the nomination of Onzy Anwar Nkrumah, one of the sons of CPP’s founder and first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

“We declined to accept his nomination because he failed to comply with the set rules,” a statement signed by CPP’s Communications Director, Kadri Abdul Rauf Issifu, said.

Equal opportunity
The statement, however, noted that “the party made frantic efforts to give all the aspirants equal opportunity.”

The vetting of the presidential aspirants is from January 14 to 15, 2016. The congress to pick the party’s flag bearer is slated for January 28, 2016.

The statement also pointed out that the Chairman and leader of the party, Prof. Delle, “reiterated his willingness to uphold the party's principles and unite it for victory in the 2016 general election.”

“The chairman explained that the backbone of the party is the masses of the people and to him every effort shall be made to keep the rank and file of the party together,” the statement added.
