Owuraku Amofa resurfaces to contest NDC Abuakwa South seat
Owuraku Amofa, a former Deputy Minister of Tourism during Ex - President J.J. Rawlings' tenure in office has resurfaced at Kyebi to contest as a parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Abuakwa South constituency.

A former Member of Parliament for the area from 1992 to 96, he lost his bid go to parliament again when he was defeated by the current flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
During the 2008 presidential elections, Mr. Amofa threw his weight behind Nana Akufo -Addo. When Akufo-Addo lost, Mr. Amofa went into political hibernation.
Addressing members of the Friends of Owuraku Amofa Fun Club at Kyebi, the former law maker, said his coming back was as a result of pressure from NDC activists in the area as a result of good works when he was the MP and a deputy minister.
He said, the call on him by the fun club to contest has emboldened him to wrest the Abuakwa South seat from the NPP.
He told the members of the club who were clad in NDC and EGLE party paraphernalia, to combine all strength as he stood for unity and oneness.
He said the death of those who laid their lives for the people of Kyebi must not be in vain and "I accept the the call to lead you towards the 2016 parliamentary elections.
Mr. Amofa recalled the history of his ancestry and said he had no alternative than to listen to the people but however called for total support from the people of Okyeman.

"I come to you to serve and not to cheat. I am for all and sundry devoid of any discrimination", he added.
The coordinator of the Fun Club, Mr. Nathaniel Acheampong said during the tenure of Mr. Amofa, he brought a lot of development to the area particularly the rehabilitation of the Kyebi town roads and the Kyebi hospital among others, which according to him no Member of Parliament has surpassed these achievements.
He said Mr. Amofa has the capabilities and abilities to bring more developments to the constituency.
A former Member of Parliament for Akropong, Mr. Agyemfrah Kumi, extolled the virtues of Mr. Amofa, and urged the people to rally behind him to win the seat for the NDC.
