Saboba Police Commander lauds residents for peaceful elections

The District Police Commander of Saboba, Superintendent Benjamin Mensah, has praised the residents of Saboba for their commitment to peace before, during, and after the December 7 general elections.

Speaking at the End-of-Year health walk in Saboba, Superintendent Mensah contrasted the district's peaceful conduct with reports of violence and vandalism in other parts of the country.

The event, organised by EL Poly Events with support from the Member of Parliament for Saboba, was aimed at re-energising the youth and foster unity and mutual respect.

It celebrated the district's peaceful coexistence and highlighted the absence of violence during the just-ended elections.

Attendees included residents, security services, and public officials, who engaged in fun games and other activities.

Superintendent Mensah commended the district's exemplary conduct, stating, “The issue we want to talk about is the attack on warehouses and stores happening across the country, even within this region – in places like Tamale and Tolon. But I must commend you for your efforts here in Saboba because you have made this place an island of peace.”

He expressed gratitude for the collaboration between residents and the police, urging them to remain steadfast in maintaining peace and fostering development. “Before, during, and after the elections, you demonstrated an incredible commitment to peace. Let’s continue this good work to ensure Saboba remains a beacon of harmony,” he said.

The Police Commander raised concerns about unregistered motorbikes being used in criminal activities, urging residents to comply with registration regulations.

“My only issue is the noise and careless riding of unregistered motorbikes. Many robbery and violent cases involve these motorbikes. Very soon, we’ll start arresting riders of unregistered bikes. Let’s resolve this issue as the year begins,” he cautioned.

The Member of Parliament for the Saboba Constituency, Joseph Nikpe Bukari, commended the organisers of the walk, emphasising its role in promoting unity and peace.

“Peace is essential for development. Saboba cannot progress without the commitment of its people to peace,” Mr. Nikpe said.

He encouraged residents to cooperate with the police and report acts of violence for swift action.

Mr. Nikpe expressed his gratitude to the chiefs, elders, and youth for their peaceful conduct during the elections, urging them to transcend tribal, political, and religious affiliations.
