Trading of accusations harms fight against drugs — Former CPP organiser

A former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr, has called on  the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to spare the country  the trading of accusations over the Nayele Ametefeh cocaine scandal.

He said the two main political parties in the country had  been accusing each other of complicity in the saga after news broke that Nayele Ametefe, the lady at the centre of the cocaine controversy, had  been arrested at the Heathrow Airport for drug possession.

According to him,  the NPP started it all through a press conference, led by its Communications Director, Nana Akomea, indicting the NDC by saying the ruling party could not exonerate itself from the Nayele Ametefe cocaine scandal.

As expected, the ruling NDC, through its General Secretary,  Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as General Mosquito, responded through a press conference.

According to him, the NPP  came in again to respond to the NDC General Secretary’s accusations. 

Speaking at a panel discussion on Peace FM’s morning show Kokrokoo, Kabila, as the CPP youth activist is affectionately called, said it was unfortunate that the hullabaloo surrounding the cocaine issue had reached that  level.

“While accusations are being thrown back and forth, the actual drug dealers are sitting somewhere laughing…We are sick and tired of this NDC, NPP… to fight the drug menace is not about accusations and counter -accusations. It is about offering solutions as to how to deal with it,” Mr Bamfeh stated.
