UPP supports call for new voters register
The United Progressive Party (UPP) has called for the replacement of the current voters register since it is “not credible for the 2016 general election”.
It explained that cleaning or auditing it would not address the negative issues and mistrust surrounding the 2012 voters register.
The General Secretary of the UPP, Mr Razak Kojo Opoku, was speaking to the Daily Graphic after his party submitted its proposals on the need for a new voters register and new registration machines to avoid some basic registration errors such as double registration.
In August this year, the Electoral Commissioner, Mrs Charlotte Osei, tasked political parties to submit proposals for a new voters register after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had made a strong case for a new register because of the alleged registration of some Togolese.
