Single Teenage Mother Initiative launches on November 1

A transformative project led by Ayal Foundation, STM is dedicated to empowering single teenage mothers, who face unique challenges, by providing comprehensive support and resources.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, 4, 5, and 8, this initiative similarly seeks to break the cycle of poverty by offering educational opportunities, vocational training, and income-generating prospects.

It also aims to reduce dropout rates, eliminate societal stigma, and foster inclusive, supportive educational environments, empowering these mothers to enhance their employability, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

Through scholarships, mentoring, and vocational training, STM is poised to create a brighter future for single teenage mothers and their children while contributing to gender equality, economic growth, and poverty eradication in Ghana.

The STM project comprises two essential phases: STM Back to School and STM Skill Training. In the Back to School phase, the initiative will ensure access to quality education for single teenage mothers, reducing dropout rates and promoting gender equality.

It will provide scholarships, educational resources, mentoring, and policy advocacy, aligning with SDG 4's goal of quality education.

In the Skill Training phase, the Initiative will equip the young mothers with marketable skills, enhances employability, and breaks the cycle of poverty by offering vocational training, life skills development, and job placement opportunities, in line with SDGs 1 and 8.
