Quaye seeks bragging rights over Ansah in C’wealth title eliminator

Lightweight boxer, Sheriff ‘One Time’ Quaye, is seeking to settle scores with Michael ‘One Bullet’ Ansah in their trilogy clash in September despite anticipating a tough fight.

Quaye hailed Ansah for his swift revenge in their second encounter in July 2019 but said he was prepared to earn the bragging rights in their decisive third fight.

Quaye won the first bout with a split decision in October 2018 but Ansah responded with a seventh round stoppage victory nine months later.

The euphoria surrounding the fight called for promoters of the bout, Box Office Sports Promotions, to announce a trilogy bout for March 7 at the Bukom Boxing Arena. However, the fight had to be postponed after Ansah sustained an ankle injury in the build-up to the bout.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Quaye said he was determined to put an end to the lasting feud by ensuring an emphatic win in September.

“We had two great fights and we both won once. I can’t wait to fight Ansah for the third time because that will put an end to all the ongoing arguments.

“I’m prepared to earn the bragging rights even though I expect a tougher fight against Ansah. I believe we have equal chances to win but victory will be mine,” Quaye assured.

The fight is expected to be an eliminator to the Commonwealth lightweight title and both fighters are willing to snatch the opportunity to fight for the international belt.

”The fight is supposed to be a Commonwealth title eliminator because we can’t afford to fight in a contest”.
