Asamoah eyes Conte reunion at Chelsea

Kwadwo Asamoah would not distance himself from ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, admitting he would love to work with his former coach Antonio Conte in the future.

The Juventus midfielder has been linked with a switch to English Premier League side Chelsea, with reports claiming the Italian giants will be willing to let him go for £16 million fee.

Former Juventus coach, Antonio Conte, who will take charge of Chelsea this season, is said to plotting a re-union with his former player.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been plagued by injuries over the past two seasons and made only 13 appearances for the Old Lady this season.

Asamoah in an interview last Thursday at the Arthur Legacy Trade Ball in Accra stated that he is open to playing under the Italian coach again.

“I’m happy where I am now. Honestly, all the rumours going on I don’t know anything about it because I haven’t spoken to my agent after the season. Maybe he is working on something but myself I don’t know honestly,” he said.

“I haven’t spoken to Conte. He brought me to Juventus and gave me something I didn’t have. I will like to, he was the same person that gave me the courage and confidence to do everything when I go to the field.

“Before I was lacking this kind of things but he supported me. Even at training he will call and talk to me to give me this kind of confidence. If I will like to work with him? Why not,” the versatile midfielder stressed.

Conto signed Asamoah from Udinese to Juventus four years ago and the player has gone on to win four Italian league titles.
