Hearts of Oak, others still in relegation loop

Accra Hearts of Oak are back to their worse premiership nightmares after a week respite, falling down the First Capital Plus Premier League ladder to a lowly second from bottom.

They were held in a goalless game by Medeama FC and the dropped points mean Hearts are only better off than the condemned BA United, who remain rooted at the base.

The cagey standings virtually leave all but Ashgold and Aduana Stars as relegation candidates.

But it was all smiles for Asante Kotoko who thumped BA United by 4:2 to move to third on the log, with Olympics beating the enterprising WAFA 2 - 0 to improve their chances to stay afloat.

With two rounds of matches to go, second-placed Aduana Stars appear to give up the chase to upset Ashgold to the title. Aduana were pipped 1:0 by Heart of Lions, leaving them four points behind the leaders. Ashgold had on Saturday drawn 2-all with Berekum Chelsea to bring their points haul to 49.
