Kotoko thrash Wiaga

Kumasi Asante Kotoko's quest to secure a double in domestic football this season was given a boost last Tuesday when they defeated lower tier side, Wiaga United, 4-0 in the round of 64 of the MTN/FA Cup played at the Bolgatanga Park.

Three goals in the first half and one in the second half were all that the Porcupine Warriors needed to crush the dream of the Wiaga Side who, prior to the start of the game, were seeking to cause a major upset in the ongoing MTN FA Cup.

Godfred Asante put Asante Kotoko in the lead on the 18th minute and secured a brace in the 24th minute after converting a penalty kick.

The third goal was credited to Aminu Mohammed of Kotoko on the 39th minute after Wiaga United defender Ernest Apili failed to make a clearance.

After recess, Kotoko's Ugandan import, Joseph Ochaya, fired in the fourth and final goal of the day for the current league leaders.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko, as expected were the dominant side in the game playing some delectable football to the admiration of the seizable crowd, whose only motivation was to watch a big club such as Kotoko play in the region which is without a Premier League club.
