The Poland international has long been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, although BVB's determination to hold on to their star striker means he is likely to see out his contract with the club, which expires next summer.

Lewandowski, who scored 24 Bundesliga goals last season,  recently admitted his public desire to leave Signal Iduna Park had caused "trouble" among some of his teammates but, after featuring in Dortmund's 4-2 DFL-Supercup win over Bayern last Saturday, he had assured supporters his sole focus would be on performing well when he wore the Schwarzgelben shirt.

"I will give everything for Dortmund, no matter what. When I stand on the pitch and play, I think of BVB. I will do my best and be successful," he was quoted as saying by Bild. "I hope that the Super Cup was not the last trophy."

The Polish striker, who also scored 10 goals in the Champions League,  maintains he has no problems representing Dortmund, but the 24-year-old has revealed he is unhappy with certain personnel outside of the playing squad.

"When I am on the pitch, I want to play well and score goals," he told Sky Deutschland.

"That is the most important thing for me, no matter where I play.

"I feel fine in the team, but with other people I do have a problem. That is a difficult issue."

Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke conceded he was the likely target of the striker’s ire, but insisted decisions had been made in the best interest of the team.

Watzke explained to Bild: "Obviously he's referring to me but I have got to make decisions for the good of this club.

"I can fully accept that Robert is a bit frustrated."
