Okwawu to rebrand, make club attractive again
The secretary of Division Two side, Okwawu United, Mr Prince Asare Amoako, says officials of the former Premiership side feel devastated as the club celebrates its 45th birthday in the lower rungs of Ghana football.
Once vibrant traditional club, Okwawu won the FA Cup in 1986 and played in the final of the 2017 MTN FA Cup,but they have struggling to return to the Premier League for more than a decade.
the club suffered demotion from Division One in April 2007 for playing a suspected fix match against Nania FC in a Division one Middle league encounter which ended 31-0 in favour of the latter.

In an interview with Daily Graphic, Mr Amoako said the Okwahu was currently undergoing rebranding to let the world know it still existed and to make them vibrant again
"That is why we are using the 45th anniversary to announce our presence as we work hard to correct the wrongs,” he explained.
As part of the process, traditional elders and indigens Kwahu, unhappy with the situation have decided to revive the club’s fortunes after years of inactivity, leading to the activation of social media handles which coincided with their 45th anniversary celebration last Monday.
Vision
“The onus lies on us as Kwawus to push forward and move the club from where it is now to a better glory after many years of struggle to return to elite football in the country.
“Strategically, we have positioned ourselves as Okwawu United to be a force to be reckoned with and having a place in Ghana football,” he explained.
He stated that the vision of the club was to develop players to play attractive football and was convinced that the appointment of Mr Sammy Adjei Addo as the head coach was a step in the direction because he was capable of helping the team to succeed.

“We are not in a haste; we believe we have signed the right person to help us achieve our intended purpose which is to qualify from Division Two to Division One by the close of the 2019/2020 season.”
Life Patron’s role
According to Mr Amoako, the Life Patron of the club, Kwawuhene Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II, has not been comfortable with the club’s position and therefore anticipates a quick return to the premiership as the new managers report to him on the club’s progress.
According to the club's secretary many factors had contributed to the club’s woes, including supporters’ attitude, verbal attacks on financiers, and a poor governance structure.
