Difficult game for Kotoko, Medeama: Both search for first win

Two back-to-back defeats in the Premier League have taken the shine off Medeama SC after winning the MTN FA Cup and the GFA Super Cup two within months. 

Losses to AshantiGold and Accra Hearts of Oak have put pressure on Coach Tom Strand to halt their downward slide as they face another difficult test against giants Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.

In spite of their poor start, Strand remains confident his boys have recovered and are psyched up to burst the bubble of the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday.

In a writ of summons, the former national Taekwondo star is asking the court to restrain the defendants from further publishing defamatory and malicious words about him.

The President of New Edubiase United, Yakubu Abdul Salam, has described government’s decision to build a  stadium  at New Edubiase as a positive sign to boost sports and  accelerate socio-economic development at the community and its environment.

He said beside motivating players and technical handlers of the club to excel in the Premier League due to the massive home support in their league matches, “the entire community at New Edubiase and its environs stand to gain from the stadium. Accra Academy and Accra Wesley Girls showed class in the Greater Accra Schools Sports Association (GASSA) Zone One annual Inter-School Athletics Competition.

They each won the boys and the girls events during the two-day competition which was held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

London bout for Powers March 11

Veteran  Michael Ayitey Okine, aka, Ayitey Powers, will take on London-based cruiserweight boxer, Daniel Mendes, on March 11, as part of his preparations for his much-awaited  bout against Mark Allen.

The bout, to be staged at York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London, will be Powers’ first international bout after losing to Bukom Banku last year in Kumasi.
