Group Nduom pledges to partner SWAG

One of the country’s most successful indigenous business conglomerates, Group Nduom, has pledged to partner the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) to help develop and promote sports in the country.

As a first step towards a promising relationship, Group Nduom has indicated its readiness to support SWAG towards the organisation of the 40th MTN SWAG Awards which will take place at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra on Saturday, October 3.

Meteors lose to Nigeria

Ghana’s Olympic side, the Black Meteors appeared to be heading home when they stumbled before their Nigerian counterparts who handed them a 2-0 defeat yesterday in their Group B encounter at the ongoing All Africa Games played at the Stade de Olympique de Unity Stadium in Kintele, Brazzaville.

A brilliant finish by striker Junior Ajayi Oluwafemi in the 54th minute and a late flick on by midfielder Kingsley Sokari in the 86th minute were all the Nigerians needed to progress to the semi-finals.

Inter-Bases Sports festival underway

This year’s Inter-Bases Sports competition is underway at the Air Force Base in Takoradi where participating teams (Bases) are competing in football, basketball, cross-country race, table tennis, badminton and tug of war.
The competition, which started last Monday and ends tomorrow, is being held under the auspices of Air Vice Marshal Samson-Oje, Chief of Air Staff.

Togo coach Tom Saintfiet has said he will not pick Emmanuel Adebayor any longer after the Tottenham Hotspur striker failed to report for international duty last week.

Adebayor, who has been left out of Spurs' Premier League and Europa League squads, was selected in the Togo squad to face Djibouti last Friday, but did not turn up for the game.

Golfers thrill at Access bank tournament

The Access Bank Monthly Medal Tournament took off in grand style on Saturday with over one hundred golfers in the Greater Accra region converging at the Tema Country Golf Club to compete in the one-day 18-hole medal play tournament. 

Prince Agyiri was crowned winner after pulling off a remarkable victory as he returned a net score of 66 playing off handicap 13 to beat nearest challenger, Amoah Ebo-Dacosta who returned net 70 playing off handicap 5.

Expressing his excitement for excelling over his competitors in the tournament, Prince Agyiri said, “It's a fantastic day and I'm so happy to claim this win after working hard for it.”

Tawiah, Constance win Kal Tire Golf

William Tawiah and Constance Awuni won the Kal Tire 2015 Open Golf tournament held at the Damang Golf Club last weekend.

Tawiah won the men's group 'A' trophy with a handicap of  2 as he got 77 net to win the day, while Paul Abu, also from Damang, had 79 net to finish second and Rowland Yankey from Ankobra Golf and Country Club, Bogoso, came third with 80 net.
