10th-anniversary clash at Wembley Park: Kotobabi Monday Stars play Kenstepp XI

Kotobabi-based Monday Stars are gearing up to mark their 10th-anniversary celebrations at Wembley Park with a friendly match against Kenstepp XI on Monday.

What began as a casual kickabout for foreign-based Ghanaian professional footballers during breaks in the European season had evolved into a dynamic platform for nurturing local talent in the Kotobabi area.

Team Manager for Monday Stars, Nuru Bremansu, highlighted the transformative journey of the team, emphasising its positive impact on aspiring footballers.

Bremansu expressed deep gratitude to the CEO of Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited, Robert Tetteh Coleman, for providing the upgraded Astro turf facility at Wembley Park.

He said the venue had become a fitting home ground for Monday Stars, facilitating their growth and development.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by Kenneth Kwame Asare, alias Kenstepp in financing the team's activities, Bremansu also praised celebrated ex-national stars such as Stephen Appiah, Emmanuel Armah, Kwame Ayew and Sulley Muntari for contributing their expertise and providing football boots to the players.

He highlighted the significant achievements of the Monday Stars, noting that many young footballers who played for the team secured lucrative deals to ply their trade abroad.

To him, the nurturing environment created by Monday Stars had not only honed the skills of local players but also opened doors for many young men in the Kotobabi area.
