Aduana coach disturbed by dismissal rumours

The head coach of Aduana Stars, Yusif Abubakar, is afraid rumours about his supposed sack from the club can easily affect his players as they prepare to face Ashantigold Sporting club in one of their outstanding Zylofon Cash Premier League fixtures today at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi.

As a result, Coach Abubakar, who is still in charge of the Dormaa-based club, has expressed his disappointment at the perpetrators of such false information.

Last Monday, news broke about the axing of Coach Abubakar due to non-performance, with former Accra Hearts of Oak Scottish trainer, Frank Elliot Nuttall, being mentioned as his replacement.

However, speaking to the Graphic Sports yesterday, the former Medeama and Berekum Chelsea coach debunked the rumours, tagging it as baseless.

“I am disappointed in the people putting out such information and I believe agents of some coaches who are interested in my position are behind such false publications,” he said.

“As I speak with you, we are getting ready to go to Obuasi to play Ashantigold to honour one of our outstanding games and I don’t want the team to be disorganised because of such rumours.

The 2017 SWAG Coach of the Year continued: “Sacking coaches happens every day even in bigger clubs in Europe so it is not a new thing to me but my only worry is the danger it may pose to my players.”

Aduana Stars have experienced a turbulent campaign so far picking just 14 points from 11 games and placed at the 14th position of the league log despite having four outstanding matches.

A loss at Obuasi today will further worsen the plight of the Dormaa club as their opponents, Ashgold will be seeking to grab all three points to continue their upward movement on the log.
Coach Abubakar has failed to replicate the same magic which led to their Premier League success last year after recording a string of losses this season.

The Dormaa club have also performed poorly in their continental campaign after dropping from the Total CAF Champions League to the Confederation Cup and losing 0-1 to ASEC Mimosa with a 3-3 draw against Raja Casablanca at home recently.
