Walker signed a two-year contract with the club on Monday just four days after FC Samartex confirmed they had parted ways with the experienced gaffer on mutual grounds with a year left on his contract. During his tenure, he guided the Samreboi-based club to 10th place on the betPawa Premier League log.

Coach Walker takes over from Bismark Kobby Mensah, whose short-term contract expired last month. Mensah managed to narrowly save the Wonder Club from relegation, guiding them to a 14th-place finish in the 18-club league.

The Graphic Online understands that the management of Olympics has given Coach Walker the authority to choose his assistant as part of efforts to revamp the technical team and playing body ahead of the next season.

Beginning July 16, the experienced trainer will begin his pre-season training with Olympics. He returns to a familiar environment, having previously guided Olympics to sixth place in the 2020-2021 campaign and an improved fifth position in the 2021-2022 season.

Coach Walker played a pivotal role in guiding Ghana’s home-based senior national team, the Black Galaxies, to the semi-finals of the African Nations championship in Algeria early in the year.

A former coach of Tudu Mighty Jets, Kpando Heart of Lions and Berekum Chelsea, he achieved remarkable success as lead trainer of Division One League side Nania FC, owned by the celebrated Abedi Pele, leading them to win the MTN FA Cup and Ghana’s Super Cup in 2011.
