Damba was reportedly given a rousing welcome by management, the technical team and players of  Dreams, as he started work.

Confirming the deal during an interview with the Daily Graphic, the technical head of Dreams FC, Charles Akonnor, said the presence of Damba as the goalkeepers’ trainer was likely to impact positively on the team when the second round of the Ghana Premier League gets underway this weekend.

“We had issues with our defence during the first round and this made us concede easily, so the management decided to work on it, hence the signing of Damba to work on the defence to make it more formidable,” he explained.

Coach Akonnor was hopeful the addition of Damba, who was his goalkeepers’ trainer during his time with Accra Hearts of Oak as  coach, would go a long way to improve on the performance of Dreams FC.

While confirming that the team made the league quite exciting anytime they hosted the bigwigs at Dawu, Akonnor said they were not able to deliver to the satisfaction of their fans.

He, therefore, assured them of good performance as the second round of the league got underway and appealed to the fans to continue providing the needed support to motivate the players to offer their best.

Damba, who is a former Black Star player, featured prominently for Real Tamale United during his heyday. And prior to retiring from active football, he joined Perak FA in Malaysia.
