DOL clubs to set MTN FA Cup pace

Former Premier League giants, Heart of Lions, will on Sunday begin their quest for the MTN FA Cup when they welcome Nania FC to the Kpando Park in a fierce battle as the various 24 Division One clubs battle one another for supremacy.

The match promises to be exciting, especially with relegated Lions hoping to start this season’s MTN FA Cup on a good note by defeating Nania at their backyard, though the latter could cause an upset.

 

Another demoted side from the Premiership, Accra Great Olympics, will play neighbours Danbort FC at the Nungua Town Park on Saturday as they seek to redeem their dented image, Berekum Arsenals host Tano Bofoakwa at the Berekum Park, while Wa Rockets meet B.A. United at the Wa Stadium.

Okwawu United will lock horns with Istanbul FC at the Nkawkaw Park, Real Tamale United clash with Utrecht in a Tamale derby, Tema Youth visit the Ghanaman Park at Prampram to play PureJoy FC, as Eleven Wise battle Proud United at the Sekondi Gyandu Park.

On Saturday, Mighty Jets will play as guests of SP Mirren at the Aquinas Park, Vision FC host Amidaus Professionals at the Kweiman Park, King Faisal welcome Achicken FC, Dunkwa Park hosts Dunkwa United and Starke FC, Steadfast play Guan United at the Tamale Stadium, while Samartex travel to play Nzema Kotoko at Anyinasi Cam Park, Nzema.

Mighty Royals play host to Berlin FC, Tarkwa United play against Wassaman at the T&N Park, Elmina Sharks versus Venomous Vipers, with Karela United hosting Bibiani Gold Stars at the Anyinasi Cam Park, Nzema.

Also on Sunday, Okyeman Planners will engage Roberto FC at the Old Tafo Park, Kotoku Royals play King Solomon at the Oda Park, Tangah FC will travel to Bawku United, and Unity FC clash with Mpuasuman (Japekrom) at the Goaso Park on Friday.

Bolga All Stars will face Liberty Babies at the Tamale Annex, while former top flight campaigners, Cornerstone, face a tough test at the Baba Yara Stadium against Asokwa Deportivo, both on Monday.

The 48 Division Two clubs will have their turn in the preliminary round games next week.

Teams which qualify from this round will join the 16 Premier League clubs for the main draw on March 15.
