Dominic Oduro assists Montreal Impact to reach MLS Eastern Conference Final
Dominic Oduro gave a second-half assist for captain Ignacio Piatti as Montreal Impact defeated New York Red Bulls 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) to reach the Eastern Conference Playoff final and MLS Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The Canadian side went into the game with a 1-0 first-leg advantage and held their own in front of the hostile home crowd inside the Red Bull Arena to make history.
Piatti received a pass from Oduro on 51 minutes and rifled a shot past goalkeeper Luis Robles.
Bryan Wright-Phillips got the hosts back in the game on 77 minutes to set up a tense finish.
However, substitute Drogba had other ideas providing the second assist for Piatti to score five minutes before full time.
Ghanaian Oduro then missed a chance to increase Montreal’s tally in injury time as he could not find the finish for the visitors who held on for a sweet win that sends them into the Eastern Conference Playoffs final.
