Donyma sponsors amateurs tennis at 4 garrison

Donyma Steel Complex (DSC)limited, Kumasi-based manufacturers of is sponsored this year’s Amateurs Tennis Championship organised by the 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club in Kumasi.

The one-day tournament scheduled for Founder’s Day, Monday, September 21 and brings together some of the country’s finest tennis players, especially those with the club.

The winner of the annual competition is expected to be promoted to the professional category of the club.
The president of the Club, Mr Samuel Ampadu-Kyei, told Daily Graphic the competition was to sharpen the prowess of the players especially those categorised under team B of the club.

He commended Donyma for coming to the aid of the club and appealed to other companies and individuals to support and nurture tennis talents in the country, Kumasi in particular.
About 33 men and 12 women of the club are expected to participate in this year’s competition categorised into men singles and women singles.

The Administrative Human Resource Manager of DSC Limited, Mr Peter Karikari Bimpeh said his company has been observing with keen interest, the efforts being made by 4 Garrison Officers Mess Tennis Club in the promotion of the game in the region and the country as a whole.

Those expected to feature are Francis Marshall, Peprah Sarpong, Ernest Antwi, Kwame Asare, Anthony Wularu, Capt. G.G. Klu-Amereka, Brig. Gen. J Adu Boapong, Benjamin Brayie Edusei, Yaw Nimo Baffour.
