Duncan back to Olympics

Coach David Duncan is set to make a sensational return to his roots as head coach of Accra Great Olympics in the forthcoming First Capital Plus Premier League, barely 10 months after he was relieved of his job at rival Accra Hearts of Oak.

Even as he battles his former employers for a compensation package, Coach Duncan is all but set to take charge of Olympics on their return to the elite division.

Duncan’s return to the Wonder Club appears to be the wellkept secret after he made an appearance at the unveiling last Wednesday in Accra of a partnership between Olympics, the Fattal brothers and Global Village Media Group, who acquired 40 per sent shares in the club.

Later ,a director of the club, Fred Pappoe, dropped the strongest possible hint that the former Black Starlets coach was close to taking over the technical direction of the club where he played for a total of eight seasons at two different periods.

“We are almost set to announce David Duncan, one of our own as our new coach.

“The club in strengthening its technical bench, sees  Duncan as the man to lead us to our destination,” he added.

It could be an emotional return for Duncan who honed his coaching skills at Olympics as assistant coach to J.E. Sarpong about 15 years ago before later taking over the technical direction of the club.

He takes charge of Olympics for the second time richer in experience, having handled clubs such as Sekondi Hasaacas, AshantiGold, Free State Stars of South Africa, Hearts, as well as the Black Starlets and Black Meteors.
