GH¢10,000 up for grabs in Gold Fields golf
The winner of the ongoing Gold Fields Ghana Professional Golfers Association of Ghana (PGA Ghana) tournament which teed-off last Wednesday at the Damang Golf Course in the Prestea Huni Valley district of the Western Region will take home a whopping GH¢10,000 as prize-money.
A member of the organising committee, Mr Alfred Baku, told the Daily Graphic that the three-day competition has 57 golfers including 27 professionals battling for honours.

The first runner-up of the 72-hole course will bag GH¢6,000 with the second runner-up going home with GH¢4,000. There will also be consolation prizes for golfers who would place fourth to eighteenth.
Addressing the golfers at the opening ceremony of the tournament, the Executive Vice President and Head of West Africa at Gold Fields Ghana, Mr Alfred Baku, urged the golfers to be disciplined during the duration of the tournament.
“The only way a golfer can excel is to be disciplined and have self-confidence on the course which will make them excel. The professionals must set good examples for the amateurs in our midst to follow since they serve as role models to them”, Mr Baku explained.
He thanked PGA Ghana for coming up with such a tournament and assured them of Gold Fields’ cooperation to sustain the competitive spirit of the tournament.
For his part, the President of PGA Ghana, Mr B.B.K Ayivor, expressed gratitude to the sponsors for coming on board to make their dream a reality.
He also expressed gratitude to the professionals for participating in the tournament, which he said, was part of the association’s effort to make professional Ghanaian golfers active.
