Ghana finishes fourth in 4x100 relay final at World Athletics

USA and Canada were almost neck and neck heading into the final changeover but in a contest between Noah Lyles and Andre De Grasse, there was only going to be one winner.

USA took gold in a world leading time of 37.29 seconds. Canada took silver and The Netherlands earned a surprise bronze, running a national record to edge Ghana.

Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team fell just short of a historic medal, finishing fourth in the final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

The quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu clocked 37.93s, narrowly behind the Netherlands, who secured bronze with a national record of 37.81s.

The United States, featuring Christian Coleman, Kenneth Bednarek, Courtney Lindsey, and Noah Lyles, stormed to victory in a world-leading 37.29s. Canada, anchored by Olympic champion Andre De Grasse, claimed silver in a season’s best of 37.55s.

Germany (38.29s), Japan (38.35s), and France (38.58s) followed, while Australia did not finish.

Meanwhile, Rose Yeboah finished 15th in the Women's High Jump final after unsuccessfully attempting to clear the bar at 1.93m.
