Agbo crowned MTN Invitational Golf Champ
Albert Agbo produced some impressive strokes to win the final edition of this year’s MTN Invitational golf tournament at the Tema Country golf course last Saturday.
With a handicap of 14, Agbo managed to beat off competition from the other golfers to finish the hole 18 with 66 points.
Godwin Asem, who also played with a handicap of 2, finished second with a net score of 69 to beat Samuel Tetteh on countback after finishing with a net score of 69 with handicap 7.
Peter Agbo was a point short as he managed to close his game with a net score of 70, off handicap 3, to finish fourth.
The Men’s Group B competition also witnessed an interesting competition between Eric Ofosuhene and Felix Boateng as Ofosuhene eventually triumphed with a net score of 64, off handicap 24.
Boateng consoled himself with the second position with a net score of 67, off his handicap of 24 to finish ahead of Seong Chill Kim, who scored a net of 69 with a handicap of 18.
The Lady Captain of the Ankobra Golf and Country Club at Bogoso, Floria Hurtubise, shrugged off competition from her challengers to top the Ladies Group A with 73 points, while playing with a handicap of 13.
Evergreen Mona Captan Mylers-Lamptey could not capitalise on her lower handicap to win as she finished with the same net score of 73, off handicap 7 but was separated on countback to settle for the second position.
In the Ladies Group B event, Vida Annang emerged winner with a net score of 73, off a handicap of 25, while Adelaide Owusu came second with a net score of 74, off handicap 19.
Sam Koranteng, Corporate Services Executive of MTN, noted that the competition had grown over the years and described golf as a game for business people, adding that his outfit mainly organised the tournament for its stakeholders.
