Earlier, heavyweight boxer David Akankolim Bawah, won Ghana’s second medal at the games in Brazzaville with a bronze following his semi-final loss to Saint Pierre Keneddy of Mauritius.

Bawah lost all the three rounds, 28-29, 28-29, 26-30 to Kennedy, who landed more clean punches than his opponent.
Table tennis trio of Derek Abrefah, Emmanuel Commey and Felix Larety, all picked Ghana’s first medal of the games in the competition.
The Black Loopers lost to their Nigerian counterparts in the semi-final to win bronze. Quadri Aruna beat Derek Abrefa (11-5, 11-9, 11-2), Segun Toriola overcame Felix Lartey (11-4, 11-3, 11-8) with Seun Ajetunmobi defeating Emmanuel Commey (11-6, 11-8, 11-5) to set up a final clash between Nigeria and top seeds Egypt.

Ghana’s coach, Bernard Sam, conceded it was not an easy game for the Loopers.
“It was not an easy match against Nigeria because they are very experienced and it really showed.
“We had thought we could do what we did to Congo Brazzaville but before we realised it was two-nil; we then knew that they are superior to us, we hope Nigeria win the gold being our brother from the west.”
