Giti Tyres President’s Putter tees off at Celebrity Golf Club on April 1
The Celebrity Golf Club at Sakumono in the nation’s capital is set to come alive once again as preparations intensify for the 2025 Giti Tyres President’s Putter Championship.
One of the most prestigious tournaments on the Celebrity Golf Club’s calendar, the Giti Tyres President’s Putter will tee off on April 1, bringing together over 200 golfers—both professionals and amateurs—who will compete in separate categories.
The five-day tournament is being organised by Wonders Rising Stars Golf Academy, with sponsorship from Giti Tyres and Tang Palace Hotel.
Held annually, the competition honours the President of the Celebrity Golf Club, Tang Hong, for his leadership and contributions to the development of golf in Ghana.
Fifty professional golfers from various clubs across the country, fresh from competing in the recently concluded PGA Captain’s Prize tournament at Achimota, will now shift their focus to the Giti Tyres President’s Putter. With a lucrative prize purse at stake, many of them are already intensifying their preparations ahead of their category competition, which will conclude on 4th April at Sakumono.
Meanwhile, amateur golfers will take to the course on the final day of the competition, battling for attractive prizes to be awarded during the closing ceremony.
According to the lead organiser, John Mawuli Nyarko, all is set for the championship to commence, and he expects an exciting display of golf, particularly from the professionals competing for cash prizes and bragging rights.
Speaking to the media, the President of the Celebrity Golf Club, Tang Hong, expressed confidence in the event’s organisation, stating that the tournament would continue to showcase excellence from both the organisers and sponsors. He added that the championship would serve as a platform to strengthen Ghanaian-Chinese relations.
