‘Hearts will not sign Sammy Adjei if ...’
Ex-Hearts of Oak goalie, Sammy Adjei’s dream of joining his former club next season could fall on rocks unless he avails himself for proper assessment at the training grounds.
According to Hackman Aidoo, the officer in charge of administration at the club, the veteran goalkeeper was not part of the club’s plans but he could be considered if only he is able to justify his inclusion during training.
The 35-year-old former Hearts number one goalkeeper had expressed interest in returning to the rainbow club after his unimpressive performance during his second return to the club in 2008 but Mr Aidoo, who spoke to the Daily Graphic yesterday said “Nobody has prevented the player from joining the club for training but if he is expecting the club to offer him a contract without assessment, then that will not happen”.
“If Sammy Adjei wants to join Hearts, nobody is preventing him from joining us during training sessions. It is the only way the club can assess him and determine whether he is fit to play for Hearts or not. We cannot sign him without assessing him”, he said.
Mr Aidoo, who also doubles as an accountant at the club said the player made similar overtures last season but chickened out when he was asked to come and train with the club.
