Junior Olympic schools event today

Over 60 basic schools will compete for honours today when the fourth edition of the Global Multimedia Consult (GMC) Junior Olympics comes off at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

This year’s event will be held on the theme: “Supporting the development of sports in Basic Schools” and will bring together students from  both private and public basic schools within the Greater Accra Region.

According to the organisers, the multi-sport event is to complement efforts at promoting and developing sports and physical education programme in schools across the country.

Participating athletes will take part in events such as, track and field, basketball, volleyball and soccer with each participating school also expected to compete in at least two events. Only 16 schools will be selected for the flagship football competition.

The fourth Junior Olympic Games’ 2015 is sponsored by Indomie Instant Noodles with support from Events Empire Ghana Limited.
