The local Stars’ best showing so far since the tournament began in 2009 was the silver medal feat   at the maiden showpiece hosted by Cote d’Ivoire.

But the current generation has been harangued by the footballing public as they are generally perceived as uninspiring and lacking the capacity to follow in the trails of their predecessors and not even their coronation as WAFU Champions have cleared the lingering doubts hanging around their campaign.

But Nyantakyi believes Coach Maxwell Konadu has the capacity and capability to survive the storm and steer the team to success.

He insists that the coach has assembled the best players from the Premier League to mount a strong challenge for the title, saying;  “ this year’s group of players can take Ghana far.”

“I look forward to a good performance this time round. We are a candidate to winning the championship and I’m very hopeful that we will win,” the FA president stated.

“We have a good team with some of the best players from our domestic league who were camped for a long period.

“Maxwell Konadu has done a good job by transforming the team through the WAFU tournament, and we are praying for the team to excel at this competition,” he added.

“I have spoken to Maxwell  and he has assured me that things are shaping up, so we pray things go well for the team,”  he noted.

The local Black Stars will opened their campaign with a clash against Congo on Monday.
