M.N.S. Doe heads to court over ExCo election

After what appeared as successful Regional Football Association (RFA) elections across the country, the Central Regional polls could be thrown out of gear as a legal battle looms over the election of Roy Arthur as the Central Regional FA chairman.

Mr M.N.S. Doe, the defeated regional chairman, has carried out a threat to file a writ at a Cape Coast High Court seeking the annulment of the regional elections.

Mr Doe, who declined to give further details of the lawsuit, could only say that “Roy Arthur is not qualified”.

Prior to the Central regional elections, Mr Doe had raised a red flag over the candidature of Mr Arthur, who was the representative of Great Astronomers. But the election went ahead and the younger administrator emerged the surprise winner after beating Mr Doe by just two votes.

Earlier, Mr Doe who had occupied the position for over two decades, contested Mr Arthur’s claim that he was the Chief Executive Officer of Central Region-based Astronomers, saying he (Mr Doe) had previously worked with Astronomers and, therefore, knew the officials of the club.

He said if Mr Arthur’s claim, were true, he still did not meet the qualification criterion of two years’ affiliation to a club to enable him to contest the elections as stipulated in the FA statutes.

Meanwhile, Mr Anthony Osei who was disqualified from contesting the Western Regional election, has rescinded his decision to contest his disqualification in court.
