Nii Lamptey, who rode Mr K, beat competition from seven other contenders to finish within an average time of 2.4 seconds over a distance of 1400 metres (7 furlongs) to lift the trophy at stake.

Mr K, owned by Dr Omar Sattout and trained by Bampoh Ojuku, started off slowly allowing his opponents, Fresh Boy ridden by Jonathan Mensah and Who Is Free also ridden by S.T. Madu, the second and third positions respectively, to dictate the pace right from the start.

However, at about 400 metres to the finishing line, Mr K gathered momentum and overtook Fresh Boy and Who Is Free to win amidst cheers from about 600 spectators.

Eight horses lined up for the ‘Easter Egg Challenge Cup’ and they included Copta (E.A Mensah), I Thank God (R. Amoah) owned by Prof. Nii Owoo, Yoobibioo (D. Kotey) owned by Alhaji I. Amartey, Sea Never Dry (E. A. Adjetey) owned by Dr Omar Sattout and Baafira (J. Lamptey) owned by Mr Bilal Mawali.

The Second Day Easter Meeting was made up of four different races for all trotters with the most important race of the day, which was won by Mr K, reserved for class and experienced trotters on a long distance of 1400 metres.

In the first race, Bonanza ridden by T. Madu stole the show after finishing in an average time of 1.59 seconds over a distance of 1200 metres (6 furlongs).
