The decision, which was announced by the MTN FA Cup Committee Chairman, Kurt Okraku, at last Tuesday’s  Round of 16 draw at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, is a departure from the  practice where the venue for the final is usually announced after the two finalists have emerged.

According to Mr Okraku his outfit had already tabled a proposal to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) towards staging this year's final at the 15,000 capacity stadium.

"God-willing, the final of this year's competition will be staged at the Cape Coast Stadium which is being commissioned today," Mr Okraku said at the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 draw.

"We have made a proposal and we will work with the NSA and MOYS to make sure the game will be staged at the plush Cape Coast Stadium."

Last season's final was played at the Sekondi Stadium, with Medeama SC beating Kumasi Asante Kotoko 2-1 to win the competition for the second time.

The Southern Zone pairings for the MTN FA Cup slated for May 11-16 will see Storm Academy from Mpraeso hosting Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Wa All Stars will entertain Wamanafo Mighty Royals at Wa, Real Tamale United clash with Bechem United at Tamale and Wa Rockets lock horns with Asokwa Deportivo at Wa.

In the Northern Zone, Elmina Sharks face True Democracy at Elmina, Okwawu United play Sekondi at Nkawkaw, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) engage Emmanuel FC at Sogakope and Samartex lock horns with Liberty Professionals at Samreboi.
