One Humanity Beach Soccer Festival: Beach soccer meets culture in Accra
Accra has been confirmed as the host city for the inaugural One Humanity International Beach Soccer Festival, a landmark sporting and cultural celebration scheduled for May 8–10, 2026.
The three-day festival will bring together national beach soccer teams from Ghana, Nigeria, England and Germany, and is expected to transform Accra’s coastline into a lively centre of elite sport, cultural interaction and business networking.
At the event launch in Accra last Friday, Madam Fatou Diallo Ndiaye, the UN Resident Director for International Migration, said the festival drew its inspiration from the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations’
One Humanity Campaign, which harnesses the power of sport to promote unity, dialogue and shared human values across cultures.
Organised in collaboration with Beach Soccer Worldwide, the sport’s international governing body, the festival is designed as a sport-for-impact platform that extends far beyond competition on the sand.
In addition to high-level matches, the programme will feature a vibrant fan zone, beach clean-up exercises, fitness health walks and a headline outdoor concert celebrating youth culture, fashion and music.
The Executive Director of NASCO Feeding Minds and lead organiser of the event, Banasco Nuhu Seidu, said the festival is anchored on a strong legacy vision.
The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, described the festival as both timely and strategic, highlighting its wider economic and social value.
“Beach soccer offers a unique opportunity to activate our coastline beyond sports, while showcasing Ghana’s readiness to host any world-class international sporting event,” he said.
The Chairman of the Ghana Football Association Beach Soccer Committee, Gyamfi Kusi Awere, pointed to the tournament’s developmental importance for the local game, saying it would provide vital international exposure for Ghanaian players and strengthen the country's place within the global beach soccer ecosystem.
