Oti-Akenten gets Awaambe Academy job

CAF Technical Committee member, Francis Oti-Akenten, has been appointed as the Technical Director of the newly-formed Awaambe Sports Academy.

Oti-Akenteng, who is also a CAF Instructor, CAF Education Officer and Technical Director at the Ghana Football Association, will head the technical department of the academy.

The academy, founded by the former Marketing and Supporters Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Listowell Yesu Bukarson, is based at Sandema, the capital of the Bulsa North District in the Upper East Region.

Mr Bukarson, who is also the CEO of Kumasi-based sports consortium, Authentic Sports, explained that the aim of the academy was to unearth talents in the three northern regions of Ghana.

In a related development, the academy has struck a deal with the physician of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwaku Boateng. 

He takes up a consultancy role as a special physician at the Sandema-based academy.

Dr Boateng is the Medical Director at the National Sports Authority, Ashanti Region. 

The Awaambe Academy was launched by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Joseph Yammin, and the 1978 African Footballer of the Year, "Golden Boy" Abdul Razak, two weeks ago.
