Mr Amponsah claimed the award in recognition of his exploits as a sports lawyer, FIFA intermediary and president of the model club, Phar Rangers.

The FortyUnder 40 Awards honoured 39 other distinguished entrepreneurs who have excelled in their various fields of business.

The young administrator beat off a strong competition for the sports award, taking home a trophy and a medal.

The citation that accompanied Mr Amponsah’s award mentioned his efforts that have made Phar Rangers a model club in Ghana in just their first season in the second tier league.

Mr Amponsah, who holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) in Sports Law and Practice from the Leicester De Montfort University in the U.K., is credited for facilitating the transfer of several Ghanaian players abroad in the last decade.

Having worked in the sports industry actively for a decade and built a great deal of experience and a huge network across the football world, Mr Amponsah was elated by the honour done to him.

"It is a beautiful feeling to know your hard work is being noticed. It's been over a decade of dedication to football and everything right about its growth.

"I'm happy about today's recognition and award. It is a silent reminder of why we must all contribute our quota to making the game we all love better."
