Salah and Mane nominated for FIFA Player of the Year award
African football stars, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been named in a ten-man shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2019 award.
The Liverpool duo both won the UEFA Champions League and were joint top-scorers in the English Premier League with Mane helping Senegal to the CAF Africa Cup of Nations final.
Also nominated are Cristiano Ronaldo, Frenkie de Jong, Mathijs de Ligt, Harry Kane, Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Virgil van Dijk.

FIFA says the ten players were nominated based on their respective achievements during the period from July 16, 2018, to July 19, 2019, inclusive by a panel of experts in men’s football.

Fans can now vote for the top three on the FIFA website.
The fan vote will be equally weighted alongside the votes of other key members of the footballing community - namely journalists, national team coaches and captains.
The three finalists for each award will be revealed at a later date, with all award winners revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on September 23.
