Women’s league kicks off on a high

This season's National Women's League (NWL) got off to a flying start with last season's finalists, Hasaacas Ladies and Ampem Darkoa Ladies finishing as the biggest winners on match day one.

Ampem Darkoa stated their intentions of what they intend to achieve this season with an emphatic 7-1 win over debutants, Subayo Golden Ladies, while Hasaacas Ladies beat LadyStrikers 4-0 in their match at Takoradi last Saturday.

 

On the opening day, Ampem Darkoa's forward, Princella Adubea is already leading in the topscorers'chart after her four goals propelled the Techiman-based team to their home win.

Last Saturday, the Inspector General of Police signed on as the number one fan of Police Ladies as he sat through their goalless drawn game against Soccer Intellectuals at the Police Depot Park after which he pledged to provide more support for the team to enable them succeed this season.

In other matches played on the opening day, Elmina Bafana Ladies were held to a 1-1 drawn game by visiting Samaria Ladies, Immigration Ladies were 2-1 away winners to Halifax Ladies in the southern zone with the northern zone results as follows:

Lepo Ladies 1, Prisons Ladies 2; Real Upper Ladies 1, Ashtown Ladies 2; Northern Ladies 1, Fabulous Ladies 0.
