Women’s FA Cup Round of 16: betPawa rewards winners with historic locker room bonus
Sports betting giant betPawa has made history in Ghanaian women’s football by awarding a Locker Room Bonus (LRB) to teams that triumphed during the Women’s FA Cup Round of 16 matches held last weekend.
The initiative, a first in the tournament’s history, saw players and three technical staff members from each winning team receiving GH¢400 directly to their mobile money wallets immediately after their victories.
The recipients of the bonus included eight winning teams: Hasaacas Ladies, Rootz Sistaz FC, Faith Ladies, Northern Ladies, Sung Shining Ladies, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Jonina FC, and Fosu Royals.
The LRB programme was introduced in November 2024, extending betPawa’s player appreciation initiative to the Women’s FA Cup. The programme, already familiar in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) since 2022, is designed to reward players immediately after matchday success.
“It’s amazing to see our efforts rewarded. The Locker Room Bonus is more than just money; it’s recognition of our hard work and commitment,” said N-Yanyimaya Gnabekan, a player from Ampem Darkoa Ladies. This sentiment was echoed by her coach, Stephen Sarkodie, who praised the initiative’s impact on the team.
The Locker Room Bonus ensures that players receive their bonuses promptly before leaving the stadium. The process is swift and seamless, celebrating not only the victories but also the efforts of those at the heart of the game.
This groundbreaking initiative aligns with betPawa’s commitment to elevating sports standards in Africa. "Players who make the matchday squad list are paid a winning bonus directly to their mobile money wallets immediately after a match win," the release stated, showcasing the brand’s dedication to advancing sports while empowering communities.
The teams participating in the Round of 16 included Ampem Darkoa, Hasaacas Ladies, Jonina, Anlo, Rootz Sistaz, Sissamba Ladies, Soccer Intellectuals, Faith Ladies, Fosu Royals, Northern Ladies, FC Savanna, Ashtown Ladies, Tuutingli Unity Ladies, Blacoe Soccer Academy, Sung Shining, and Dreamz Ladies.
