Betway Ghana has expanded its flagship corporate social responsibility initiative with the installation of two solar-powered “Power Up” units for residents of the Ayensuano District in the Eastern Region, providing much-needed energy support to a community with limited access to electricity.
The donation, made on December 12, 2025, under the company’s Betway Cares programme, is expected to ease longstanding challenges faced by residents, particularly with mobile phone charging, lighting and access to basic digital services.
At a brief ceremony to hand over the units, the Amankrado of Kofisem, Kofi Amponsah, praised Betway for selecting the area as a beneficiary. He said the solar hubs would spare residents the inconvenience of travelling long distances to charge mobile phones and other rechargeable devices.

A local pastor, Kennedy Tuffour, also expressed appreciation, noting that the LED lighting fitted to the units would support children who wish to study at night. He described the installation as a meaningful investment in the community’s wellbeing.
The “Power Up” units function as independent energy hubs equipped with solar panels, charging ports and lighting systems designed for communities without reliable electricity. Betway said the technology is part of a wider plan to address infrastructure gaps in underserved parts of the country.
Traditional leaders, district authorities and residents attended the ceremony, which also attracted media coverage from Channel One TV, the outlet that first highlighted the electricity challenges in Ballagonnor and neighbouring communities.
Speaking at the event, PR and Brand Manager of Betway, Michael Asamoah Agyemang, said the company remained committed to delivering sustainable, community-centred solutions. “Access to reliable energy is essential for growth, safety, and opportunity. We believe that these Power Up solar units will contribute meaningfully to the daily activities of the community, provide greater convenience, and support local development efforts,” he said.
He added that Ayensuano is the second community to benefit from the programme and pledged that the initiative would be extended to other rural districts.
Betway’s parent company, Super Group, operates in more than 20 global markets. Beyond its betting and gaming operations in Ghana, the company has become known for investments in community upliftment, sports development and youth engagement.
