Ghana will join more than 200 nations around the world to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025 from November 17 to 23, marking its participation in what has become the largest global movement dedicated to entrepreneurs, innovators, and changemakers.
Organised locally by the Global Entrepreneurship Network – Ghana (GEN-Ghana), this year’s celebration is being held under the global theme “Together We Build”, which calls for stronger collaboration among policymakers, investors, academia, media, and entrepreneurs to strengthen Ghana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and drive inclusive economic growth.
In a statement, the Managing Director of GEN-Ghana and National Host of GEW, Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, described the initiative as a rallying point for collective action. “Global Entrepreneurship Week is more than a celebration—it’s a movement that connects, inspires, and empowers entrepreneurs in every corner of the world,” he said. “This year’s theme, ‘Together We Build,’ reflects a fundamental truth: sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystems aren’t built in isolation. They require collaboration between policymakers who create enabling environments, investors who provide capital, educators who nurture talent, media who tell our stories, and entrepreneurs who dare to innovate. We’re calling on every Ghanaian institution and individual to be part of this movement.”
The annual event, founded in 2008 by the Kauffman Foundation and powered by the Global Entrepreneurship Network, engages millions of participants across 200 countries through thousands of activities aimed at inspiring people to explore their entrepreneurial potential. In Ghana, GEW 2025 is expected to unite government, private sector, civil society, and educational institutions around the goal of building a thriving entrepreneurial nation capable of creating jobs and competing globally.
GEN-Ghana is calling on a wide range of stakeholders to take part in the week-long activities. Government agencies have been encouraged to host policy dialogues and showcase support programmes; private sector leaders are being asked to offer mentorship and sponsor innovation-focused events; and educational institutions are urged to organise startup competitions, hackathons, and entrepreneurship workshops to nurture young innovators.
Media organisations and social media influencers are also expected to play a central role by highlighting success stories, engaging audiences in conversations about entrepreneurship, and promoting Ghana’s growing innovation ecosystem. “Media partners and influencers who actively participate in GEW 2025 help build a national culture that celebrates creativity, rewards innovation, and recognises business leadership as a pathway to national development,” the statement noted.
Individuals and organisations can participate by registering their entrepreneurship-related activities—whether large conferences, small workshops, or online discussions—on the official website, www.gew.co
, by selecting Ghana as their country. Once registered, events become part of a global celebration, gaining visibility and contributing to Ghana’s national entrepreneurship story.
GEW 2025 activities in Ghana will include startup pitch competitions, innovation expos, policy roundtables, and mentorship sessions, all designed to equip entrepreneurs with practical knowledge, investment opportunities, and partnerships to scale their businesses.
Since its establishment, GEN-Ghana has been at the forefront of promoting entrepreneurship as a driver of job creation, economic transformation, and social impact. Through partnerships with government agencies, private enterprises, and development organisations, it continues to nurture a resilient entrepreneurial ecosystem that empowers Ghanaians to innovate and succeed.
With the 2025 edition themed “Together We Build”, the initiative underscores a powerful message: Ghana’s entrepreneurial future depends on unity, collaboration, and shared commitment to building a stronger, more innovative economy.
