HR Focus rewards six for distinguished performance
Six organisations operating in the country have been honoured for distinguishing themselves in Human Resource (HR) best practice in 2014 at this year’s edition of the HR Focus Conference and Awards held in Accra.
The event was attended by representatives of various organisations, as well as stakeholders in Ghana’s HR community.
The HR Director of Vodafone Ghana, Mrs Irene Stella Agyenim-Boateng, was crowned the HR Practitioner of the Year.
Effective HR
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the HR Focus magazine (a subsidiary of L’AINE Services Ltd), Dr Mrs Ellen Hagan, in a welcome address, said “effective HR management is vital to the development of all institutions and, indeed, all countries”.
She said the HR Focus Magazine, as a stimulus for the growth of HR in Ghana, had made the HR Focus Conference and Awards possible to enable HR practitioners and other players in the industry to come together to promote the HR development agenda.
A former Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, who delivered the keynote address, encouraged HR practitioners and business leaders to put
their companies’ most important asset at the forefront of strategy planning.
That, she said, would help them develop home-grown talents who would, in the long term, contribute significantly to the economic growth and stability of Ghana.
Awardees
Airtel Ghana and the Volta River Authority (VRA) were awarded the Best Organisation in Learning and Development Practice and Best Organisation in Performance Management awards, respectively.
Starlife Assurance also took home the Most Promising Organisation in HR Practice, while Fidelity Bank won awards for the Best Organisation in Rewards Management Practice and the Best Organisation in Organisational Culture.
Two telcos, MTN and Vodafone, won multiple awards, including the two most prestigious awards of the night, with MTN winning the Overall Best Organisation in HR Practice award.
