eShun takes a bold step

Having participated in three major music reality shows, Ethel Esi Eshun, aka eSHUN is now ready to take the music industry by storm.

First, it was Mentor Season Five where she made it to the final and came out fourth. Then in 2011, she entered the MTN Project Fame in Nigeria where 19 contestants from across Africa took part. eSHUN was one of two Ghanaians who participated and she ended up in the final six.

eSHUN almost hit the jackpot two years ago when she came out second in the Glo X-Factor where Nigeria’s DJ Switch took the ultimate.  “I think I was cheated because I should have won; I did extremely well in that competition,’’ she told Showbiz.

According to the 22 year-old radio presenter of Radio Central, TV3’s Mentor prepared her for Project Fame because it was the first time she was playing with a live band.

Now that all is over, eSHUN is ready to show the world what she has up her sleeves and she has done that with the release of two singles, Meye and Dance with Daddy.

Meye is a highlife piece which encourages people to work with relentless effort in whatever field they find themselves doing because hard work pays and that it is good to use one’s God-given talent to succeed in life.

The song is danceable and has good instrumentation. eSHUN has an amazing voice and it cannot be missed by the listener.

Dance With Daddy which features gospel artiste, Kofi Bentil, is a song done to celebrate fathers as Father’s Day comes off this month of June.

eSHUN said she has five yet-to-be-released songs and that she is looking at doing collaborations with the likes of Okyeame Kwame and others.

According to her, Okyeame Kwame has agreed to collaborate with her on a song tilted, Black, and she is very excited about it.

“Getting into the reality shows has paid off because we are taken through voice training and stage performances so I have gotten better over the years.

“However, I believe that organisers of these reality shows should be able to help the winners come out after the competition instead of leaving them to struggle on their own,” she said.

In the next five years, eSHUN sees herself doing collaboration with Drake and Stevie Wonder. She, however, loves Kojo Antwi to bits, “I just love his kind of music, it’s great.’’

eSHUN is also the lead singer for the Calabash band made up of three Ghanaians, a British, a Dutch and an American. “ I love playing with the band, I enjoy doing live band music than miming so I really enjoy playing with the band,’’ she said.

She expressed gratitude to Ralph Menz of Ad Focus for shooting the video of Meye, Leez Boutique in Cape Coast, Mama Africa and all radio stations across Ghana who have been very supportive.
