Joyce Blessing on being a survivor

I am more than a conqueror—Joyce Blessing

Perhaps, when gospel musician Joyce Blessing released her song ‘I Swerve You’ in 2018, she didn’t realise she would be living the lyrics two years on.

Just like her song, she has proved that she is a winner, not a loser. The diva believes she is an overcomer and a conqueror of setbacks that had the potential to knock her out since her personal troubles began at the beginning of the year.

She has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in recent months as her marriage hit the rocks after splitting with her husband and business manager David Adu-Gyamfi, and in the process lost custody of her children.

And in what could pass as the worst nightmare for an artiste at such a period of virtual entertainment, Joyce lost her social media accounts which were managed by her estranged husband and therefore, lost touch with her huge fan base.

However, in the face of all these difficulties, the former Zylofon Music signee has found inner strength to bounce back with the release of a new song, Y’endanase, recorded by DDT. In the song, she also celebrates her ‘liberation’ in what may pass as a troubled year.

Talking to the Graphic Showbiz on Friday, June 12, to promote her new song, Joyce said, “I must admit that it is not going to be easy, especially with my all my social media accounts gone although I have create new ones.

"I know the journey is not going to be easy with all what is happening but Joyce is so strong and focused that she will not go down.

On Y’endanase, recorded two weeks ago, Joyce Blessing is praising God for bringing her this far. She sings her heart out telling God she will forever remain grateful to Him for what He has done for her and her family.

“I am very grateful to God for everything. None of my family members has been affected by the deadly coronavirus and I have to thank God for that.

"He deserves to be praised by every living person. I am hoping the song travels far and touches a lot of lives,” she explains.

According to Joyce Blessing, the music talent God has given her is so strong for anything to distract it. “When I put in my best and count on the Lord, I know He will pave a way for me.

"I am happy the media has shown great support since all this happened. I trust they will support me to go far with my music,” she stated.

Although she would not say exactly what led to the breakdown of her marriage, Joyce Blessing said she is now a free person.

“Everything happens for a reason and I can comfortably say that I am a free person now. I have been able to get rid of a lot of things that were troubling me and now I am very free. There are a few things I need to deal with but I will be fine,” she said.

Joyce Blessing has been around for close to a decade and she is known for songs such as Heavy Price, Repent, I Swerve You, Adam Nana, Boot 4 Boot, Aseda, Sunsum Kronkron, Onyankopon (God), Monko Mo Akyi among others.
